Good Practice Can Be Introduced in Any Business Environment

The themes of this year's international congress »Supply Chain Management in Science and Practice« were Principles of Logistics in the Automotive Industry and Cold Chain.

Automotive industry has been the most effective in the organization of logistics. Concepts, knowledge and good practices efficiently used in automotive industry can be transferred to any other business environment.

In the light of regulations, technological and safety requirements the Cold Chain is considered to be the most challenging. Technological progress has been rapid and solutions used in the Cold Chain could also be appealing for enterprises in other industries.

This was another event where, together with renowned Slovenian and foreign experts and managers, we focused on very concrete ways of efficiently organized transport and logistics with the providers and users of logistic services. The bottom-line conclusion was that the logistics factor can make organizations better and leaner, especially when they are focused on their key processes. Specific cases were presented where a logistic provider is not only a transporter or a storing processes provider, but can also perform certain simpler production operations. We emphasized the importance of standards for ensuring efficient logistics and discussed the future of logistics and new trends.

At the congress we granted the life award to a former director of the BTC Logistic Centre, Mr. Janko Pirkovič.
Young guys from the INBOT institute were granted the award for the best development-research project in logistics. Congratulations to all!

We thank everyone for this pleasant experience.

See you at the next congress, in April 2016 in Portorož!

Awards

ThE BEST DEVELOPMENT-RESEARCH AND BUSINESS APLICATIVE PROJECT IN LOGISTICS IN 2015

For the third time in a row, the Slovenian Logistic Association launched competition for ‘the best development research and business applicative project in logistics’, and this year’s winner was INBOT, THE INTERNATIONAL INSTITUTE FOR ROBOTICS from Ptuj, for the project AUTOMATIZATION OF A WORKPIECE TRANSPORT DURING DIFFERENT STAGES OF PRODUCTION.
The project’s objective is to design an affordable autonomous robot which changes the existing production line into an automatized one without the need for changing machines. Several robot platforms are used, manipulating a workpiece between machine tools.

Its novelty is that the solution automates production without the need for relocation or change of machine tools and conversion of floor. Due to its innovative design, the solution is also useful in warehouses or a combination of a warehouse and production.

With a prototype they entered world competition RoboCup 2015 in China where they competed in industrial logistic league and achieved the excellent 4th place.

The winner will be nominated for the European Gold Medal and Logistics & Supply Chain Awards 2016 awarded by the European Logistics Association ELA, which member is also SLZ.

The competition is open to companies and research and development organizations, which have over the last 5 years, carried out scientific research and / or enterprise application project in the field of logistics, which is innovative and suitable for presentation to the general public.
